Australian resource: Seeking Security – report on women’s financial wellbeing after escaping domestic violence
Seeking Security: promoting women’s economic wellbeing following domestic violence (PDF, 2.4MB) is a report from the Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearinghouse.
This research studied the economic impact that domestic violence can have on women and their recovery. The research identified seven main areas related to women’s economic needs. The report also identified eleven areas that indirectly affected a woman’s financial security. The report provides details of what each of these barriers are, and suggests strategies that may assist in overcoming these to provide a better financial outcome for women.
It is a detailed report and provides a broad review of the literature as well as a comprehensive analysis of issues affecting the financial and economic wellbeing of women affected by domestic violence in Australia.
