The first of its kind in the UAE, this privately run shelter, City of Hope, provides shelter for women in Dubai who have endured extreme abuse at the hands of their husbands. The shelter survives modestly with limited contributions and donated time from medical and mental health professionals and lawyers who are working to help women escape abuse.
